Advanced imaging system at Medical City Spine Hospital

Medical City Spine Hospital adds three-in-one imaging system to its operating rooms, improving efficiency and shortening surgery times.

Medical City Spine Hospital is the first adult medical facility in North Texas to enhance its minimally invasive surgical technology with the addition of a three-in-one imaging system that improves operating room efficiency.

This latest advancement adds to the benefits of minimally invasive spine surgery compared to open surgery. The technology is the first that combines three types of imaging — cone-beam CT, X-ray and fluoroscopy — into one system. It works with the hospital’s existing robotic navigation platform, enabling surgeons to more accurately and quickly place screws. The imaging system uses two revolving arms that rotate 360 degrees around the operating table, which also improves image quality.

Additional features of the system:

  • Reduces the amount of imaging equipment in the operating room, which simplifies sterilization procedures
  • Shortens the amount of time a patient is under anesthesia
  • Improves placement of spinal implants
  • Lowers radiation exposure

“This new imaging system is a tool that works seamlessly within our high-tech operating environment to further improve the minimally-invasive surgeries we offer to patients,” says Chris Mowan, CEO of Medical City Spine Hospital. “Investing in the most advanced technology further positions our hospital as the destination of choice for spine care excellence.”

Less invasive procedures often mean shorter hospital stays, smaller incisions, less blood loss, reduced pain and quicker return to daily activities for patients.
