Mental and behavioral health issues we treat in teens

Adolescent and teen mental health care services we offer
Our safe, supportive and structured programs are headed by highly-trained professionals who appropriately address behaviors that have led to the need for either inpatient or outpatient care.
Adolescent inpatient mental health program
Our inpatient program provides treatment for adolescents — ages 12 to 17 years old — experiencing acute mental health and addiction issues.
An individualized treatment plan is created for each patient participating in our Adolescent Program. Patients and families or caregivers will work with our pediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists to tailor a plan that addresses the specific needs of each adolescent and builds on their strengths.
Issues we treat in our inpatient programs include:
- Addictive behaviors
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Panic attacks
- Psychotic disorders
- Self-injury
- Severe disruptive behavior
- Sudden mood changes
- Suicidal thoughts
Our programs are focused on the reduction of symptoms and the development of healthy coping and social skills. Parents and caregivers play an important role as contributors and partners in the treatment process.
Educational services, including tutoring, are also provided during the school year. We work closely with the area Independent School District to ensure every child is receiving the appropriate curriculum-based instruction based on his or her grade level.

Adolescent intensive outpatient program (IOP)
Our hospital's IOP offers specialized treatment for adolescents (ages 12 to 17 years old) who do not require the structure of an inpatient level of care or who are transitioning from an adolescent inpatient program.
We provide a safe, supportive and structured environment staffed with professionals specifically trained to work with adolescents. The groups are focused on the development of healthy coping skills and the reduction of negative behaviors. Our services include treatment of a variety of emotional, behavioral and addiction issues, including: sudden mood changes, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and addictive behaviors.
The IOP meets three days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
This program is LGBTQ+ friendly, and offers family and individual sessions, as needed.
