Jay deVenny, FACHE

Chief Executive Officer

Jay deVenny was named chief executive officer of Medical City Dallas in April 2024. He also leads Medical City Heart Hospital and Medical City Spine Hospital, departments of Medical City Dallas. He previously served as CEO of Medical City Children’s Hospital and Medical City Women’s Hospital Dallas and was as chief development officer and vice president of business development at Medical City Dallas.

Prior to joining Medical City Healthcare, deVenny held several roles in administrative and business development within the North Texas healthcare industry.

deVenny holds a Master of Business Administration in Health Services Management from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). He serves as a board member for Camp iHope and the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce.


Skyler Reed, FACHE

Chief Executive Officer, Medical City Children's Hospital and Medical City Women's Hospital Dallas

Skyler Reed was named CEO of Medical City Children's Hospital and Medical City Women's Hospital Dallas in June 2024.

In this role, Reed leads the hospitals’ strategic planning, business development, physician and colleague engagement and programs to advance patient experience and clinical quality.

Reed previously served as chief operating officer of Medical City Dallas, where he oversaw multiple services, led capital expansion and project development, and supported strategic planning with a focus on advancing patient care and improving patient and physician satisfaction. Prior to that role, he served as COO and facility ethics and compliance officer at Medical City Arlington and has held progressive leadership roles with HCA Healthcare since 2012, including Austin-based St. David’s Healthcare, a partnership with HCA Healthcare.

Reed is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He earned a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Trinity University and a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from Auburn University.


Tabitha South, DNP, RN, NE,-BC, CCFP

Chief Nursing Officer, Medical City Children's Hospital and Medical City Women's Hospital Dallas

Tabitha South, DNP, RN, NE-BC, CCFP, has served as the Chief Nursing Officer at Medical City Children’s Hospital and Medical City Women's Hospital Dallas since November 2022. She helps lead service lines, including congenital heart, neonatal and pediatric services and women’s services. She also works closely with the chief nursing executive at Medical City Dallas to build cross-hospital partnerships in nursing leadership and the hospital nurse executive council.

South was an Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at Medical City Dallas from April 2022 to October 2022. Before that, she was Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at Medical City Plano since 2017. With her collaborative leadership, Medical City Plano opened the first Sarah Cannon Cancer Hospital tower in Texas, launched the ECMO program, attained numerous service line designations and accreditations, and achieved HCA Unit of Distinction in nine nursing units. She also led the redesignation process for Medical City Plano’s 4th Magnet designation and Medical City Frisco’s 2nd designation.

South is a graduate of the HCA Executive Development Program and has been recognized as a DFW Great 100 Nurse and a recipient of the D Magazine Nurse Excellence Award. She earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Texas at Arlington, her Master of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University and her Associate Degree in Nursing from Collin College.


Scott Anderton

Chief Financial Officer

Scott Anderton joined Medical City Dallas as chief financial officer in April 2022. In this role, Anderton oversees finance and accounting functions for Medical City Dallas, Medical City Children's Hospital, Medical City Women's Hospital Dallas, Medical City Heart Hospital and Medical City Spine Hospital.

Previously, Anderton served as CFO of HCA Healthcare's Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, since July 2020. He joined HCA Healthcare in 2010 as a staff auditor in the Internal Audit department moving into the hospital setting in 2016 as an assistant chief financial officer at HCA Healthcare's CJW Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. In 2018, Anderton was promoted to chief financial officer of HCA Healthcare's Coliseum Health System, a 413 bed, multi-campus health system in Macon, Georgia.

Anderton holds a Master of Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Alabama.


Mary Beth Short

Vice President of Human Resources

Mary Beth Short was named Vice President of Human Resources at Medical City Dallas, Medical City Children’s Hospital, Medical City Women’s Hospital Dallas, Medical City Heart Hospital and Medical City Spine Hospital in July 2021. She brings more than 20 years of human resources experience, including more than 16 years in healthcare human resources to her position.

Mary Beth previously served as Vice President of Human Resources at Medical City Arlington, Medical City Alliance and Medical City North Hills. Prior to joining Medical City Healthcare, Mary Beth held human resources leadership positions at Medsynergies, Texas Health and Baylor Health Care System.

Mary Beth is a Navy veteran. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Studies, Human Resources Management from New Hampshire College and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University.


Gabby Underwood, MS, BSN, RN, CPHQ

Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety

Gabby Underwood joined Medical City Dallas and Medical City Children’s Hospital as Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety in December 2020.

Gabby has over 25 years of healthcare experience. She previously served as the VP of Quality and Patient Safety at Medical City Fort Worth. There, she led a team who successfully implemented various quality improvement protocols and initiatives during her tenure which have led to vast improvement in quality rankings, metrics and overall patient safety. During her tenure, she achieved many notable accomplishments including: a Leapfrog Grade A Safety Rating for four consecutive quarters – only one in Fort Worth medical district; 14 months consecutively of top decile performance for complications and mortality; successful quality reaccreditation surveys including Comprehensive Stroke Certification, Chest Pain and Spine Surgery; and increased compliance rates for Enhanced Surgical Recovery process in conjunction with surgical services.

Gabby holds a Master of Science in Management from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington.
