Emergency care
Emergency care is the treatment of unexpected, severe medical injuries or infections. It is typically delivered in an emergency room or an ambulance. Our emergency medicine physicians stabilize your condition as quickly as possible to prepare you for the next step of care or discharge.

Expert care for cardiac emergencies
We receive information from the emergency medical services (EMS) personnel whenever a transported patient is having a heart attack. A team of experienced healthcare professionals waiting for the patient's arrival skips the ER and take the patient directly to the heart catheterization lab in 60 minutes or less—30 minutes below the national average.
An ST-elevation myocardial infarction, also known as a STEMI, is a type of heart attack that completely blocks an artery, which can stop the heart suddenly. Diagnosis between a STEMI and non-STEMI heart attack can be done with an electrocardiogram (EKG). Medical City Dallas is a 24-hour STEMI receiving hospital.
Emergency medicine physicians are also specially trained in caring for patients in the later stages of heart failure, including patients with left ventricle assist devices (LVAD).
Pediatric emergency care
Medical City Dallas shares an emergency clinic with Medical City Children’s Hospital, though the adult ER and pediatric ER, including waiting rooms, are kept separate to create a soothing environment and short wait times.
Arriving to the ER
There is a patient drop off area in front of the ER doors for your convenience. Parking is available all around the hospital campus in lots or garages for $1 per hour or a maximum of $4 for the day. There is also metered street parking. You can find the Medical City Dallas ER at the intersection of Park Central Drive and Merit Drive.
