Chief Executive Officer

In 2016, Steven Edgar joined Medical City Denton from Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, a 99-bed acute care hospital in Wichita, Kansas, where he served as CEO for four years. During his tenure at Wesley Woodlawn he achieved outstanding patient satisfaction and employee engagement, and expanded service lines including ER, cardiology, and surgical services.

Prior to Wesley Woodlawn, Edgar served as Chief Operating Officer and Associate Administrator of the 760-bed Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, leading volume growth strategies, physician relations and recruitment, staffing, capital construction, and ancillary patient care departments.

Edgar holds a bachelor's degree in health science-physical therapy from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and a Master of Public Administration - health administration, from University of Missouri, Kansas City. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Chief Operating Officer

Cole Kendrick joined Medical City Denton as Chief Operating Officer in May 2024. Prior to that, he served as the assistant chief operating officer for HCA Healthcare’s Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan since November 2023, where he has provided executive oversight to business development, facilities management and security. He previously served as vice president of operations at Methodist Hospital | Northeast.

Cole earned a Master of Healthcare Administration from Trinity University and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Texas A&M University. He recently graduated from the HCA Healthcare Executive Development Program.

Chief Medical Officer

Glenn Hardesty, DO, was named chief medical officer at Medical City Denton in August 2024.

In this role, Dr. Hardesty is responsible for clinical direction for physicians and clinicians, quality, patient safety, risk management, infection prevention and medical staff services.

Prior to this role, he served as assistant CMO for Medical City Dallas, Medical City Children’s Hospital, Medical City Women’s Hospital, Medical City Heart Hospital and Medical City Spine Hospital, starting in 2023. He has previous experience as a healthcare system medical director for medical staff affairs, CMO and as an attending physician.

Dr. Hardesty earned his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center after earning a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Texas A&M University. He is board-certified in emergency medicine and is a certified physician executive with the American Academy of Physician Leadership.

Chief Financial Officer

Whitney Bendel joined Medical City Denton as chief financial officer in August 2024. As CFO, she has direct reporting responsibility for all financial operations and oversight of finance, patient access, health information management, case management, revenue integrity, IT&S and supply chain.

Prior to this role, Bendel served as chief financial officer for Medical City Lewisville. where her strong financial acumen, steady leadership, and dedication to strategic growth contributed to facility-wide enhancements. During her tenure there and at Medical City Dallas prior to that, she was instrumental in building processes to track volume, revenue and financials in support of the campuses' growth agenda.

Bendel began her career at HCA Healthcare in 2008 with Parallon Patient Account Services as a financial analyst. She has served in progressive leadership roles at several Medical City Healthcare facilities.

Bendel holds a Master of Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University. She is a 2018 graduate of the HCA Emerging Leaders program and a 2022 graduate of the HCA Executive Development program.
