Dallas, TX – Construction is underway to add three floors at Medical City Heart Hospital to expand the facility’s specialized cardiovascular services and meet the growing demand for high-level heart care in North Texas.

The $60 million project will add more than 60,000 square feet to accommodate additional patient beds for intensive and other advanced care programs. Enhancements include:

  • 28-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit (ICU)
  • Specially equipped ICU beds for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), an advanced life support therapy for patients whose heart or lungs are not functioning properly
  • Shell space to accommodate additional progressive care beds in the future

“Since opening in 2019, Medical City Heart Hospital has been the destination of choice for cardiovascular care excellence in North Texas,” says Jay deVenny, CEO of Medical City Dallas. “This vital and exciting growth will enable us to treat more patients with the most complex heart conditions.”

Medical City Heart Hospital provides world-class comprehensive cardiovascular services, including heart transplants and other advanced heart failure treatment, a dedicated cardiac emergency department and complex heart and vascular surgery. Becker’s Hospital Review named the hospital one of the top cardiology programs in the U.S.
