Pediatric surgical care is specialized in every way to fit the needs of children. Expert staff, such as pediatric anesthesiologists, at our hospitals will meet with parents and pediatric patients ahead of time to explain the process of administering anesthesia.

The treatment your child receives at our hospitals extends into long-term care with specialized pediatric rehabilitation services. We provide:

• Physical therapy—treatment for issues with mobility, including improving balance and walking, improving range of motion, completing movements for daily activities and strengthening muscles
• Occupational therapy—mastering skills for independence by improving social skills, cognitive abilities, problem-solving and physical deficits
• Speech therapy—rehabilitative treatment for language skills due to medical conditions that affect speech, feeding, swallowing and oral motor control

A pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) provides continuous monitoring and high-level multidisciplinary care for critically ill and injured pediatric patients. The nurses in a PICU receive advanced training and pediatric doctors collaborate to provide care that meets the need of these young patients.

A neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) cares for infants born prematurely or with complex medical conditions that prevent them from going home right away. We provide support for parents with babies admitted to the NICU with expert neonatal specialists, knowledgeable nurses and support groups that meet regularly.

Medical conditions affecting the genitals or urinary tract of children are diagnosed and treated by pediatric urologists. We provide a calming, family-focused atmosphere to make you and your child comfortable while receiving pediatric urological care. We provide treatment for a range of conditions, including hypospadias and genital abnormalities.

Treating children with medical conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, tendons and ligaments. Pediatric orthopedic care goes beyond broken bones to diagnose and treat scoliosis, muscular dystrophy, muscular infections and congenital abnormalities.

We employ board-certified pediatric physicians who specialize in cardiology, from congenital heart defects to heart disease, your child will get specialized, compassionate care. The pediatric cardiologists at Medical City Children's Hospital use the latest technology to treat patients in a catheterization (cath) lab for minimally invasive procedures and have an echocardiography laboratory for diagnostic imaging.

Neurological care offers treatment for skull and facial fractures, spina bifida, brain injuries, and spinal tumors. Neurosurgery teams here are comprised of board-certified pediatric neurosurgeons and specialists to help get your child back to health.
