Medical City Heart program ranked among best in U.S.
Becker's Hospital Review highlights success of heart transplants at Medical City Heart Hospital.
Dallas, Texas — Medical City Heart Hospital, a facility of Medical City Dallas, has been named one of the top cardiology programs in the U.S. by Becker’s Hospital Review.
Becker’s Hospital Review noted that the hospital has a “track record of excellence” for heart transplants, with better outcomes than most U.S. programs.
“This honor is a testament to the expertise and compassionate care of our outstanding physicians, nurses and support staff,” says Chris Mowan, CEO of Medical City Dallas. “Our program features multidisciplinary teams with a singular commitment to excellence always.”
Last year, Medical City Heart Hospital earned the distinguished 3-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for its patient care and outcomes in isolated coronary artery bypass grafting procedures. The rating is the highest and one of the most widely regarded overall measures of quality in health care, placing Medical City Heart Hospital among the elite for heart bypass surgery. Only about 20% of participants received a 3-star rating.
The hospital’s comprehensive cardiac services encompass advanced heart failure treatment — including heart transplant and left ventricular assist device placement — complex heart and vascular surgery, minimally invasive valvular surgery, cardiac rehabilitation, electrophysiology procedures for arrhythmias and care for thoracic aortic aneurysms.
Medical City Heart Hospital joins a prominent list of hospitals to earn the heart program distinction from Becker’s Hospital Review, which developed its list based on rankings and awards from U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS, The Leapfrog Group and other organizations.
