Irving, TX — A $4 million renovation to transform the labor and delivery unit is now underway at Medical City Las Colinas with a full remodel of the post-partum rooms and upgrades to additional patient and family spaces.

Design elements for the new post-partum rooms were thoughtfully selected to create a calming, peaceful environment that supports rest and recovery. Each room will include a dedicated workspace and an oversized loveseat that converts into a guest bed, providing added comfort and convenience for families.

The project also includes upgrades to the hallways, visitor waiting area and nurses’ station. Once complete, the refreshed space will reflect the exceptional level of clinical care and healing environment Medical City Las Colinas provides to women and newborns. Construction is expected to be completed by Fall 2026.

“Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most meaningful moments and every family deserves an environment that feels safe, comfortable and supportive,” says Christina Mathis, CEO Medical City Las Colinas. “We are proud to invest in a space that mirrors the compassion and expert care our team delivers in every action, every patient, every time.”

Services for women are among Medical City Las Colinas’ fastest growing specialty areas, reflecting strong demand which requires continual expansion of capabilities and amenities. In 2025, 1,421 patients were admitted to the department, including 1,325 infant deliveries. Of those newborns, 144 required specialized treatment in the Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This renovation underscores the hospital’s continued commitment to meeting the needs of its growing patient population while delivering an outstanding care experience.
