Medical City Alliance expands ER to meet growing community needs
Fort Worth, Texas — Medical City Alliance has launched a major expansion of its emergency department, a Level III Trauma Center. This transformative project will expand access to life-saving emergency care in the rapidly growing Alliance community.
The project will add eight additional ER beds, bringing the total number of beds to 29. It will also include a redesign of the ambulance bays. The new layout will feature six ambulance bays, three for drop-offs and three for staging, enabling first responders to access the facility more efficiently.
“This expansion reflects our ongoing investment in the communities we proudly serve,” says Glenn Wallace, CEO of Medical City Alliance. “By expanding our ER, we help ensure that North Tarrant County and the surrounding areas continue to have access to exceptional, high-quality emergency care when and where they need it, close to home.”
From 2023 to 2024, ER visits at Medical City Alliance increased nearly 8%. To support this growing demand, the facility is scheduled to break ground in March 2026, with completion expected by year’s end. The expansion is designed to significantly reduce wait times and enhance the overall patient experience.
The emergency department expansion is part of more than $1.5 billion in capital improvements spent over five years across the Medical City Healthcare system of care. The investments support Medical City Healthcare’s system-wide commitment to excellence and innovation, advancing care through research, empowering the healthcare workforce and delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
