Medical City Decatur enhances heart care, earns heart treatment award

Decatur, TX — Medical City Decatur is enhancing heart care treatment by adding electrophysiology procedures (EP) to its comprehensive cardiovascular services. This addition will enrich the hospital’s ability to diagnose and treat complex heart rhythm disorders, offering patients in Wise County and surrounding areas advanced cardiac care, when and where they need it, close to home.

EP is a specialized branch of cardiology that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders, also known as arrhythmias. The addition of EP services provides additional resources for patients with conditions including:

• Atrial fibrillation
• Ventricular tachycardia
• Rhythm abnormalities
• Catheter ablation
• Device implantation

The award recognizes Medical City Decatur’s commitment and success in implementing a high standard of care for heart attack patients as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.

To receive the Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award, Medical City Decatur has demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry for two consecutive years (2022 and 2023) and performed at outstanding levels for specific performance measures.
