When Brandy Pipkin’s son Tyler was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) two years ago, she was concerned whether she could find the best medical care along with compassionate nurses and physicians who would treat her son like family.

All her worries were lifted when Tyler came to Medical City Children’s Hospital.

During his treatments, which started when Tyler was 15, he was unable to attend regular school, and his classmates graduated without him from New Diana High School. But Tyler – and his caregivers -- did not quit his dream of graduating: he took online classes to get his diploma. Now 18 years old, Tyler recently celebrated graduation at the hospital with the doctors and nurses who cared for him and encouraged him to finish strong.

Brandy says Tyler and her entire family are grateful for the loving nurses, physicians and hospital staff who helped him beat cancer and get his high school diploma.

“Words cannot fully express the depth of my gratitude to the incredible pediatric oncology team,” Brandy says. “Their expertise, compassion, and unwavering dedication have been a constant source of strength for us throughout this journey. My son is here today, and we are celebrating milestones we once feared we might never reach thanks to all of you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the life-saving care and for the countless lives you continue to touch and transform. We will be forever grateful.”
