In March 2022, Julie Davis-Colan began a journey no one would choose after a routine mammogram revealed breast cancer.

Stunned by the news, she was quickly supported by Allison DiPasquale, MD, a breast cancer surgeon at Medical City Women’s Hospital Dallas, and Dr. Barry Brooks, an oncologist at the hospital. They assembled a team, including physicians, nurses and breast-cancer navigators, that mapped out a treatment plan.

First, she took a medication that stopped the cancer cells from growing and eventually reduced the tumor size by 80%. She then underwent two lumpectomies and radiation.

Today, she is cancer-free.

“The words ‘you have breast cancer’ put you on a journey that no one wants to go on,” she says. “The care, compassion and cutting-edge expertise of Drs. Di Pasquale and Brooks put me on a healing journey filled with abundant blessings and support. My Sarah Cannon navigator, Madhu Krishnan, is a wonderful, accessible lifeline for all questions, big or small! I thank God for guiding me to my team and healing pathways! I am forever grateful to them.”
