Baby Ariella and her mother

Ariella was brought to Medical City Children's Hospital less than 24 hours after birth after being diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. Ariella's defect caused the pulmonary veins in her lungs to return to the heart abnormally. Ariella's pulmonary veins were successfully rerouted back to her heart and a hole was closed between her upper heart chambers. Thanks to the care of our Congenital Heart Surgery Program team, Ariella is doing well! Her mom shares her appreciation for our team. "It's a blessing being in a hospital with highly specialized doctors," she said. "I love that the heart surgeon has a heart of compassion."
