Esmeralda Arellano admits she was scared when her baby girl, Anahli, was born a month premature with a rare condition called vacterl syndrome. It affects the development of multiple organs and parts of the body. The compassionate, expert care of doctors and nurses at Medical City Children’s Hospital helped her baby girl survive and supported the family along the way.

“The best thing about this place is you can always count on everyone’s support when you need it most,” she says. “The staff and doctors have always treated my baby with so much kindness and compassion. Every time we come in, whether it’s scheduled or not, we are received with smiles and love. It honestly feels like home when I’m here.”

Today, Anahli is thriving, and mom and family have been able to navigate all of her medical issues with confidence, knowing they were surrounded by loving caregivers.

“This is a special place compared to other hospitals we’ve been to in the past,” Esmeralda says. “While the attention of the caregivers is on Anahli, they always check on me as her main support. They want to make sure I’m taking care of myself as well.”
